At O-health, our mission is to ‘Make Albury Healthier’. As our team has grown, and we have introduced new areas of allied health care, we have also expanded the services O-health offers to include Exercise Physiology and Physiotherapy home visits. This is because we believe that everyone should have access to high quality care.
Over the past two years, we have supported many individuals to improve their strength, mobility and independence. Often, our practitioner goal is to keep people doing daily tasks and live at home independently for as long as possible. However, in some cases, transportation from home to our clinic can be a barrier to accessing necessary healthcare.
By conducting home visit appointments, a practitioner can meet you in the comfort of your own home, and they will bring any equipment needed. This eliminates the need for taxis, utilising support workers or carers for transport, as well as waiting in traffic or waiting rooms. Additionally, if privacy is a concern for you, you may feel more comfortable in your own home, and for those who are immunocompromised, may feel safer as it reduces contact with others.
What are the benefits of home visits?
Our treatment is never a one size fits all approach. We understand that everyone has different lifestyles, face different challenges and have different goals. One of the biggest benefits of home visits is the ability for our practitioners to tailor your rehab program to your personal needs, taking into consideration goals that are directly related to your home life or access into the community. They can also consider what space you have at home, and identify any safety concerns.
What do I need to have for an appointment at my home?
You don’t need anything. Your practitioner will bring along all equipment needed. We just recommend that you dress comfortably.
Your family (including pets) can even be there and participate in the sessions if you like!
What will happen during the first session?
The initial appointment is a great opportunity to get to know your practitioner, and for them to get to know you. This is the time to discuss your health history, goals, and develop a plan with your practitioner. If appropriate, you may do a few physical tests, or some exercises.
How do I book an initial home visit appointment?
